Barbara's Story

Barbara Jean (Bruce) Winter, 78, of Nottingham Rd., died Sat., June 19, 2010, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born on March 8, 1932 in Newburyport, MA, the daughter of the late William H. and Annie Louise (Currier) Bruce.

She was a member of the old Methodist Church in Exeter, where she and her husband raised their family for many years.

The family includes her husband of 57 years, Sumner S. Winter of Raymond; five sons, Gerald Winter of Enid, OK, Sandy Winter of Exeter, Derek Winter of Exeter, Jeffrey Winter of Raymond, and S. Randolph Winter of Exeter; two daughters, Brenda Arnold of Raymond, and Cynthia Waters of Eliot, ME; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Roberta Cammette of Newburyport, MA, Ramona Gleed of Kernersville, NC, Pamela Gilman of Haverhill, MA, Linda Jeannes of Lawrenceville, NJ, and Debra Forest of Largo, FL; one brother, Norman Gilman of Newburyport, MA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was also predeceased by a sister, Norma Lambert of Deerfield Beach, FL.

Her Memorial Service was held on June 25, at the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond. Burial was in Union Cemetery in Newton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Rockingham County Nursing Home Residents Fund, 117 North Rd., Brentwood, NH 03833.
