Charles Truman's Story
Charles Truman Illsley Jr., passed away Nov. 16, 2017. He was the son of Charles and Blanche (Delan) Illsley of Plaistow, N.H. After graduating from Sanborn Seminary High School, Charles enlisted in the Army and served in the Rhineland Central European Theater of WWII from 1944 to 1947. On Sept. 10, 1952, he married the love of his life, Barbara Saunders, in Rye, N.H. In 1953 he received his BS degree from University of New Hampshire where he majored in geology. In 1955 he received his MS from Penn State University where he majored in geochemistry. After graduation he worked as a geochemist for the US Atomic Energy Commission until 1961. Charles retired from Dow Chemical-Rocky Fats, Golden, Colo., in 1988 after a 27-year career. Charles is survived by son, Glenn (Sharon) Illsley of Kenai, Alaska. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, wife, brother, Russell, and son, Brian.
