Diane Jean McAskill, 71, passed away April 18, 2012 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA.
Born on June 23, 1939 in Brentwood, NH, Diane was a resident of Kingston, NH for 57 years. The daughter of the late Frances Spaulding and Merton B. Greeley, Diane was an executive secretary at the Social Security Administration in Boston for many years. While she demonstrated the importance of family to all her knew her, she also enjoyed her time with the Red Hat Ladies and bowling league. Her special passion, however, was painting. Taking up the art after retiring, Diane has brightened the homes of many loved ones with her watercolor canvases.
She is predeceased by her son, US Army Sergeant First Class Michael McAskill of Kingston, NH; sisters, Catherine M. Gum and Denise Greely-Cloutier, both of Portsmouth, NH; and brothers, Merton B. Greeley of California and Donald M. Spaulding of Portsmouth, NH.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Edward McAskill, of Kingston, NH; sons, Edward McAskill Jr. and his wife Valori of Rosamond, CA and David McAskill and his wife Christine of Kingston, NH; grandsons, Air Force Tech. Sergeant Edward McAskill III and his wife Lesli stationed in Germany and Bradley McAskill of Rosamond, CA; and two granddaughters, Christianne and Jessie McAskill of Kingston, NH. She was also the proud great-grandmother of five great-granddaughters, Edward III’s daughters Sofia, Kirsten, Lena, and Elyssa and Christianne’s daughter, Gwenivere. Diane is also survived by sisters, Patricia M. Storer of York, ME and Frances Lavoie and husband Victor of Gorham, NH, as well as many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours were held from 9-11 AM on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH. Funeral services followed at 11 AM on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial followed the services in Pine Grove Cemetery, Kingston.
