Edo's Story

Edo Crescentini, 89, of Kingston, passed away on April 19, 2017 at VA Medical Center in Manchester, from complications due to pneumonia. He was born in Somerville on June 1, 1927 and in 1948 married his childhood sweetheart, Phyllis (Reidy) Crescentini. During their marriage they enjoyed many things including travel to Europe, Hawaii and the Virgin Islands. He was the son of Guerino and Nicolina (Marinelli) Crescentini.

He was a retired firefighter for the city of Somerville and attended Somerville schools. He also did carpentry. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Navy on the USS Augusta.

Eddie, as most called him, loved the outdoors and other activities. He was an avid skier and only stopped skiing two years ago at age 87. He owned a small plane for awhile and he and his wife had enjoyed sailing the ocean on their sailboat The Paul Alden of Rye Harbor. He was fond of taking his children, grandchildren, young relatives and friends hiking and skiing. His past times included putting together jig saw puzzles and solving Cryptograms.

He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Peter Foy of Newton NH and Debra and George Mayhew of Clover SC. Also grandchildren and spouses Paul Mayhew, Kevin and BJ Mayhew, Chris and Briana (Foy) Iani and Tristan and Marissa (Foy) Adams. He had 6 great-grandchildren who lovingly called him Nonno - Makayla Mayhew, Brayden and Sophie Mayhew, Austin Adams and Teagan and Ryleigh Iani. He was predeceased by his wife Phyllis, son Mark Crescentini and siblings Zelinda Solari and Albo Crescentini. His other surviving family includes many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, many of whom called him Uncle Eddie.
At his request there will be no visiting hours and funeral services will be held privately at a later date. Arrangements are made by Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, N.H. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
