Plaistow, NH — Elinor G. (Hartman) Donovan, age 86, of Plaistow, N.H., passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Plaistow, N.H., on May 23, 2013, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Marblehead, Mass., on August 29, 1926, Elinor was the daughter of Roger and Agnes (McCoy) Hartman.
Elinor was married to William P. Donovan in 1948 and they enjoyed living in Marblehead for over 50 years before moving to Plaistow, N.H. They would have celebrated their 65 wedding anniversary this July.
Mrs. Donovan was a graduate of Marblehead High School. She worked as a telephone switchboard operator and also at Harbor Sweets of Salem, Mass., as a candy-maker.
Elinor was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had many life-long friends. She was an avid birdwatcher and animal lover who looked forward to the arrival of the hummingbirds every spring.
Elinor is survived by her husband, William P. Donovan of Plaistow, N.H.; children, Kathleen M. Cranford and her companion, Bruce Basso, of Haverhill, Mass., Gail A. Nelson and her husband, Michael T., of Plaistow, N.H., William P. Donovan Jr. and his companion, Emma Currie, of Asheboro, N.C., and Brian R. Donovan and his wife, Jodi, of Amesbury, Mass.; seven greatly loved grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survive her. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary F. Dane, and her brother, Roger Hartman Jr.
