TRINITY, FL - Janice DesLauriers, 81, a former resident of Plaistow, NH, died peacefully January 19, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Born in Malden, Mass., daughter of the late Jeremiah and Esther (Dahlstrom) Maffeo, she graduated from Malden High School where she lettered in field hockey and basketball. Mrs. DesLauriers received her Nursing Diploma from Beverly Hospital School of Nursing in 1957.
Mrs. DesLauriers worked as a registered nurse at Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence, and then Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport, where she worked in the cardiac cath lab until her retirement.
Janice enjoyed reading murder mysteries, watching crime dramas on TV, and spent many hours planting and tending to the flowers in her garden. Formerly, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Plaistow, NH where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She moved to Trinity, FL in 2013 where she was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Port Richey and enjoyed the annual Flower and Garden Show at Disney's EPCOT.
A loving grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her husband, Francis DesLauriers in 1999, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Karen (DesLauriers) and William Kroupa of Trinity, FL, Beth (DesLauriers) and David Rubin of Boca Raton, Fla., Jeff and Carla DesLauriers of Pittston, Maine, Ann (DesLauriers) and Neil Bird of Wilton, NH, and Todd and Lisa DesLauriers of Woodbridge, Va.; her sister, Marjorie O'Brien of Medford, MA, her brother and sister-in-law Richard and MaryLou Atkinson of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be private and take place in the summertime in NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janice's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or Gulfside Hospice, Pasco County, FL.
