Plaistow, NH - Janice E. (Keezer) DeTour, 87, a resident of Plaistow, and a former longtime resident of Newton, died on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at High Point House in Haverhill.
Born and raised in Middlebury, VT, she was the daughter of the late Roy and C. Lucille (Landman) Keezer. She graduated Middlebury Vermont High School in 1949, and earned her bachelor's degree in physical education at Sargent Boston University in 1953. Janice had a deep love for education, teaching in Fairhaven VT, Keene NH, Danbury, CT and later for Sanborn Regional High School in Kingston, NH. After her retirement, she began driving a bus for Timberlane schools and also driving for the Meals on Wheels program at the Vic Geary Center, Plaistow. During her time in education, she also enjoyed coaching basketball and softball. She later became a rural mail carrier in Exeter, New Hampshire, from where she retired in 1996.
Janice loved dogs, horses, knitting, crocheting, dining out with friends and playing bingo.
Predeceased by her sister, Phyllis Simmons of Plaistow, NH, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Kathy VanGuilder or Fairhaven, Maine; two daughters and a son in-law, Denise DiTonno and her husband, Wayne of Wakefield, and Michele "Mitzi" DeTour and her wife, Mary McEneany of Greenfield; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a niece, Lori Sadewicz and nephews, Brad and Doug Simmons.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. Her Funeral will begin at 11 a.m. at Brookside Chapel, with burial to follow in Plaistow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Rockingham Nutrition Meals on Wheels,to support Plaistow Transportation, 106 North Road, Brentwood, NH.
