KINGSTON, NH: John Douglas Impey, 81, died January 8, 2015, at his home in Kingston, N.H., after a period of declining health. He was born December 14, 1933, in Jamestown, N.Y., son of the late Arthur Guy Impey and Edith Gunhilde (Holmberg) Impey.
John grew up in Jamestown, N.Y. and was a graduate of Jamestown High School. He enlisted into the United States Coast Guard in 1952. He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1956. John had a long career as an engineer. He traveled around the country wherever he was needed to troubleshoot and fix equipment. He worked for Sanders, Raytheon, Avco, and later retired from Textron as a senior engineer. John resided the last 47 years in Kingston, N.H.
John was an avid dart player and was a member of the Seacoast Dart Association for the past 15 years. He also greatly enjoyed music and was thought of as a jazz connoisseur.
John is survived by his loving wife, Michelle (Mayo) Impey of Kingston, N.H.; son, Karl A. Impey of Kingston, N.H., daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Spiva and Dan Spiva of Cameron Park, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law, Alice McGuire and Bob McGuire of Tonawanda, N.Y.; sister, Carol Koch of Washington, and several nieces and nephews.
