John R. Makus, 44, of Sandown, and formerly of Methuen, MA, died Thurs., July 1, 2010 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA.
Born and educated in Methuen, MA, he was the son of the late John B. and Arlene (Marcinonis) Makus. He continued his education attending Northern Essex Community College, receiving an Associate in Science degree in electronics. He entered the military with the US Air Force, continuing his education with the Community College of the Air Force in Texas, and the US Air Force Technical School. John was honorably discharged from service on May 10, 1988. He also attended Boston University in Tyngsboro, MA, and received a Desktop Systems Master Certificate, and was also employed at Lucent Technologies in North Andover, MA.
His daughter Amber’s smiles kept John going throughout his long struggle with his cancer treatments. His smiling face will be missed at the performances of the Merrimack Valley Chorus where he was the Honorary mascot of the group. John’s love of “Lobsta”, Sci-Fi, and Wildlife will be remembered as well as the many laughs with family and friends.
He leaves his wife of 22 years Lisa A. (Desrochers) Makus of Sandown; his daughter, Amber F. Makus, also of Sandown; one brother, Peter M. Makus of Dix Hills, NY; an aunt, Blanche Campbell of Raymond; and uncle Daniel Marcinonis of Haverhill, MA. He is also survived by Bob and Donna, Al and Kathy, and Steve Desrochers, and Dan and Sandy Paris, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
