Kenneth S.'s Story
Kenneth S. Cummings Sr., 90, died August 27, 2016, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, N.H.
He was born May 18, 1926, in Everett, Mass., son of the late Francis S. and Julia (Dunlop) Cummings.
Ken graduated from Camden, Maine, High School, where he grew up. He also earned an Associate's degree from Bentley School of Finance and Accounting in Boston, Mass. He served in WWII from 1944 to 1946 in the United States Army. In September of 1953, he married Dorothy Shevenell and they began a family together. In 1971, they moved to Kingston, N.H. Ken worked as an accountant and auditor, initially with Revere Sugar, next with Execuphone Co. in Boston, and lastly for Kings Grant Motor Inn in Danvers.
Mr. and Mrs. Cummings were active members of the Pilgrim United Church in Brentwood, N.H.
Ken was predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy, who died February 26, 2010.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth S. Cummings, Jr. and Nancy of East Kingston, N.H.; a daughter and son-in-law, Leigh Estelle and Brian of Newmarket, N.H.; four grandchildren, Laura Leach and her husband, Thomas, Elissa Cummings, Samuel Estelle, and Madison Estelle; one great-grandson, Parker Thomas Leach; and several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. Private services will be held for the family.
