MERRIMAC, MA: Leslie Byers died December 10, 2014, at Lexington Health Care, in a rapid decline after a long battle with cancer. Leslie was born October 9, 1945, in Kansas City, Kan., eldest daughter of the late Jack A. and Mildred H. White, and lived in several places as a child, including Dallas, Texas and Stamford, Conn. A resident of Cambridge, Mass. until 1988, Leslie lived with creativity and independence. Her varied career included retail and housing management. She retired from the IRS and devoted her time to arts, travel, and gardening.
Leslie, known as “Dearie” to her grandchildren, was a supportive and loving family member. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sybil and Ron Fetter, and two grandchildren, Cameron and Chloe Fetter, all of Belmont, Mass.; a niece and nephew, and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy (White) Twaddell and her daughter, Mary Elaine Byers.
