KINGSTON, NH - Loren "Dod" Robie, 84, died on January 4, 2018, at his home surrounded by family. He was born September 27, 1933, son of the late Morton and Helen (Page) Robie.
Loren, a lifelong resident of Kingston, was one of eight children and a graduate of Sanborn Seminary. He served four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. In 1960, Loren married Cecile Latour and they had 57 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in March 2017. Loren retired from Timberland Shoe Company where he enjoyed his interactions and conversations with customers. In later years, he took pleasure in working at the Newton Greenhouse. Dod was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be remembered by his family for his kindness, stories and strong family ties. He was baptized at the Universalist Church on the Plains and has been a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Kingston. His hobbies included reading, collecting books and stamps, flower gardening, and fishing at the camp in Milan, N.H.
He is survived by daughter, LuAnn and Douglas Goddard of Exeter; daughter, Cheryl and Jeff Rowell of Fremont; daughter, Deneen Robie and Donna Ide of Bow; son, Morton and Terri-Anne Robie of Kingston; grandchildren, Carl, Crystal, Jackson, Sophie, Nicholas, William Anderson and family, and Jeremiah Anderson and family; great-grandchildren, Chase, Jordan, Piper and Toryn, sister, Carolyn Robie of Kingston; sister-in-law, Nan Robie of Kingston; brother-in-law, Wilfred "Joe" and Lucille Latour Jr. of Exeter; sister-in-law, Joni and Richard Morrison of Maine; step-brother-in-law, Butch and Betty Poliquin; and sister-in-law, Delores Latour of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by four brothers, Wesley, Bernard, Forrest, Carroll, and two sisters, Madeline and Frances.
Calling hours were held on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Kingston, 6 Church St., Kingston.
Burial was in in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Kingston, N.H. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Church on the Plains through the Kingston Improvement & HIstorical Society, P.O. Box 663, Kingston, NH 03848.
