FREMONT, NH: Meredith “Chickee” Anne Bolduc, 70, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on October 10, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on June 19, 1945 in Haverhill, the daughter of the late John and Priscilla (Estes) Barnes.
She grew up in Hampstead, N.H. and formerly resided in Kingston before moving to Fremont, N.H. in 1961. An employee and volunteer worker for the Town of Fremont for over 40 years, she was very active and involved in town affairs. Some of the departments she was involved with include the Land Use Dept., Planning and Zoning Board, Cemetery Dept., and Recreation Dept. She also handled the minutes for the selectman’s meetings and formerly served as Deputy Town Clerk. She was a longtime member of the People’s United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, and she also belonged to the Fremont Historical Society. At the Deerfield Fair, she served for many years as a Weighmaster’s Assistant during the draft horse pulling events.
Meredith greatly enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She loved the outdoors, her beautiful flower gardens, and fishing with her grandchildren at the family camp in Upton, Maine. A talented seamstress, she was well known for making dresses, quilts, and even made wedding gowns for her daughters. She was also very fond of cats.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jesse J. Bolduc of Fremont, N.H.; three daughters, Rhonda Copp and her husband, Allen of Fremont, N.H., Ruthanne Durgin and her husband, Bruce of Deerfield, N.H., Bonni Bolduc and her fiance, William Grace Jr. of Deerfield, N.H.; her grandchildren, Jessalyn, Lydia, Abigail, Samantha, Benjamin, Adam and Sammy; her great-grandchildren, Jayden, Gabriel, Cooper and Jennessa; two sisters Ruth Reed of New London, N.H., Martha Comtois of Raymond, N.H.; her brother, Lewis Barnes of Keene, N.H.; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved pet cat, Toby John.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 2 Epping St., Raymond, N.H. A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, October 14, at 11 a.m. at the People’s United Methodist Church, 363 Main St., Fremont, N.H.
