She grew up and was educated, and graduated from St. Ann’s High School in Lawrence in 1953. Starting in 1963 as a part-time resident of Atkinson, she grew to love the lake area and became a full time resident on the shores of Big Island Pond. Patsy enjoyed lake living on Big Island Pond. She represented her neighborhood Hemlock Heights as an area director of Big Island Pond Corporation for almost 30 years. She was one of the incorporating officers of the NH Lake Coalition, which was the forerunner for the NH Lakes Association. She also served on the NH Public Water Access Board, and participated in writing the Public Water Access Plan and the original Shoreland Protection legislation.
Patsy and Al used to enjoy traveling. In her spare time, Patsy enjoyed researching the history of Big Island Pond and its surrounding area. She was particularly interested in the French Canadians and the Abenaki Indians influence. Other passions included writing poetry, painting, and cooking.
Patsy was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Albert H. Goodridge, Jr. She is survived by her son, Wayne A. Goodridge of Newmarket, N.H.; a daughter, Virginia A. Ryan of Florida; three grandchildren, Nieth, Monica and Jason; and several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by the “grandchildren that happened upon her,” Teagan and Charlie McRobbie, and Casie and Bailey Richard.
