Kingston, NH — Priscilla G. Wheeler, 90, passed away on October 31, 2013 at the Exeter Hospital after a period of failing health. She grew up in Saugus, MA where she was born on March 25, 1923, the daughter of the late George and Florence (Goodwin) Pinkham.
Formerly of Lynn, MA, she has been a resident of Kingston since 1960. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years and was formerly employed at John Hancock in Boston, MA, Gage Insurance in Haverhill, MA, and Blackadar Insurance and Citizens Bank in Exeter, NH. She and her husband of 50 years, the late Theodore M. Wheeler, also owned and operated Papa's Place Restaurant in Kingston in the early 1970's.
She enjoyed crafts of all sorts, gardening, playing cards and traveling. Her favorite moments were spent with family and she had a special bond with the young children. She was an avid reader and spent more than 40 years researching and compiling her family genealogy. She whistled while she worked, enjoyed music ranging from Mario Lanza to Michael Bolton, loved lemon meringue pie and the Red Sox. She made quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. Priscilla will be deeply missed by family and friends. Priscilla was active well into her senior years, walking two to four miles daily, mowing the lawn with a push mower, gardening, raking and shoveling snow until age 87.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by sisters Virginia Flaherty and Marion Humphries; her granddaughter Heather Thornley; and her great grandson Danny Greenwood. She is survived by her son, David Wheeler and his wife Sue of Bradenton, FL; daughters, Jill Spencer of Fremont, NH, Sandra Brookes and her husband Stan of Richmond, KY, and Janice Wheeler of Fremont, NH; her brother, Lester Pinkham and his wife Eleanor of San Jose, CA ;her grandchildren, Rick Greenwood and his wife Sue, Kevin Greenwood and his wife Maureen, Tammy Ward, Michael Wheeler and his wife Karen, Damien Braley and his wife Sue, Matt Braley, and Ted Braley; 7 great grandsons, 7 great granddaughters; and two great-great grandsons.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 2 PM at the First Congregational Church of Kingston, located on 6 Church St., Kingston, NH. Brewitt Funeral Service, 2 Epping St., Raymond, NH is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Rockingham County Adult Medical Day Care Program, 117 North Rd, Brentwood, NH 03833.
