Salem, N.H. — Rita I. Darois passed away on Tuesday January 29, 2013 at the Dover, N.H. Kindred Rehabilitation Facility. She was the wife of the late Ernest Darois for 44 years, until his death in 1987.
Born in Methuen on June 20, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Marie L. (Dubois) and Oliver C. Maurice of Haverhil. Rita had been a resident of Salem N.H. since 1980 and had previously resided in Methuen and Haverhill. She graduated from Haverhill High School and was crowned Miss Haverhill in 1940. She, along with her late husband, Ernest, founded Daren’s Music Center of Derry N.H. in 1966.
Rita is survived by four sons and their spouses, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Rita was also predeceased by her sister, Irene Darois, who was married to her husband’s brother, Harold.
Rita led an active and happy life at her home in Salem, frequently enjoying the company of family and friends.
For the past several years she was an active participant at the Silverthorne Senior Center where she expanded her network of friends and was loved by many.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service for Rita will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 11 a.m., at Mary Queen of Peace Church at 200 Lawrence Road, Salem N.H. Donations can be made in Rita’s name to Paula Faist, Program Director, Silverthorne Adult Day Center, 23 Geremonty Dr., Salem, NH 03079.
