Robert E. Jackson

December 16, 1931 - June 21, 2011

ATKINSON, N.H. — Robert E. Jackson passed on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, in the early morning hours.

He was born in Haverhill on Dec. 16, 1931, the son of the late Dorothy and Arthur Jackson, and brother of the late Russell A. Jackson and Ralph Jackson. Bob graduated from Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1950. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in June 1950 and served in the Korean War as a Sgt. He was honorably discharged in July, 1954.

While in service of our country, Bob earned the Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal with two stars, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He is a member of the American Legion, Carl G. Davis Post 34 in Plaistow, N.H. Bob worked at Lagasse Furniture in Haverhill for 32 years and retired from Computer Mart of NH in 1995.

Bob married Virginia Seymour on Feb. 11, 1955, and was happily married for 56 years. For all of his five children, he was the greatest of Dads. He worked hard to provide for his family but he always made time to go to the White Mountains of New Hampshire every vacation and we all have very fond memories of him jumping off the cliffs into the Swift River at the Kancamagus Highway.

He taught us all how to play 45's and cribbage the "Haverhill Way." He took us to his softball games at Haverhill Stadium where, in the summer of 1962, he pitched a perfect game playing for Hogan's Insurance Team, as he fondly told us the story several times. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching the games with his wife, children and grandchildren; cheering loudly. He often could be found at Pilgrim Lanes bowling on several leagues, bowling with the guys or watching his grandchildren on Saturdays.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Ginny, to visit his children and grandchildren in Virginia and Pennsylvania. In 1995, they cruised to Cancun and Cozumel when he retired. Ginny and Bob enjoyed traveling with great friends and family. Dad, we all felt loved and you treated us all as if we were so special. His wife Ginny was the love of his life. We all have our own fond memories that will stay with us forever. Thank you, Dad.

Bob leaves his loving wife, Virginia (Ginny); daughters, Linda Soucy and her husband Normand, Robynn Flowers and her husband Robert, Pamela Emery, Beth Haveron and her husband Robert (Chip); son, Robert J. Jackson; grandchildren, Nicole, Stephanie and Robert Soucy, and Jennifer Noury, Michelle and Michael Flowers, James and Matthew Emery, and Tiffany Adamowicz; and great-grandchildren Anthony and Nicholas Pearson and Sarah Noury.
