THE VILLAGES, FL: Captain Robert Bruce Kitt, USN (Retired), died October 18, 2014, in Lady Lake. He was born in South Dakota in 1920 and raised in Tulsa, Okla. He attended Oklahoma A&M College before being recommended to the U.S. Naval Academy in 1940, graduating in 1943 (Class of 1944). Robert served his country with distinction through WWII and Vietnam and retired in 1973. He was a land surveyor in New Hampshire before moving to Lady Lake in 1987.
Robert was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Rita F. McGrath, of Everett, a registered nurse and Navy Nurse Corps officer. He is survived by their son, Bruce Kitt and his wife, Debbie, of Eden Prairie Minn. and their daughter, Becky Collins and her husband, Donald, of Stamford Conn.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Beyers Funeral Home on Monday, November 10, at 11 a.m. His cremains will be inurned at 1 p.m. in the Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell.
