Amesbury — Robert L. “Lou” Pothier, 77, of Amesbury, formerly of Kingston, NH, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013, after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia at Maplewood Center, Amesbury.
He was born February 16, 1936, in Haverhill, a son of the late Arthur J. and Eva M. (Brousseau) Pothier.
Robert was raised in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill Trade School with the Class of 1954. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served as a Seabee for 4 years. Lou returned from the Navy and married his childhood sweetheart, Barbara (LeJeune) Pothier of Kingston, who he shared 54 years of marriage with.
Mr. Pothier worked 29 years as an electrician at the former Western Electric before retiring in 1990. After his retirement he continued work as a self-employed electrician for a number of years, as well as the electrical inspector for the Town of Kingston for eight years.
He was a member of the Kingston Lions Club and the Pioneers of Western Electric. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Special Olympics.
Lou was a dedicated husband and father who loved spending time with his family and their many dogs over the years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Robert Pothier Jr., of Kingston, Kevin Pothier of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Sharon Gossman of Seabrook; brother, Arthur Pothier Jr., of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Theresa Welch of Salisbury, Alice LeBranche of CA; Claire Hawkins of NH; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Paula Cocozza.
