Robert's Story

SANDOWN, NH: Robert C. Utman, 83, of North Road and formerly of North Adams, died February 22, 2015 at Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont.

Born June 1, 1931 in Williamstown, Mass., he was the son of Clyde and Marian (Lamb) Utman. He was raised in Williamstown and attended public schools. Robert left school to join the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He returned and received his diploma from Drury High School.

He worked for George Lindley TV Service, during which time he met the composer, Cole Porter. He also worked for Electronic Supply Center in North Adams, Mass., Sprague Electric Company in Bennington, Vt., and Williams College.

He was formerly married to Veronica (Moloff) Utman.

Survivors include his daughter, Melissa Bernier and her husband Robert; three grandchildren, Bradley Bernier, Amy Bernier, and Emily Bernier; a great-grandson, Caleb Robert Gerry.
