Steven Wayne Jongsma, 46, of Fremont, died suddenly in his sleep at home on April 3, 2010. He was the beloved husband, for 26 years of his high school sweetheart, Laurie Ann (nee Van Dyke). He was the devoted father of Steven William and Danielle Elizabeth.
Mr. Jongsma is survived by his mother Elizabeth Jongsma (nee Buma) of Hawthorne, NJ, and predeceased by his father Harold P. Jongsma. He is also survived by brothers Harold, Kenneth, Thomas and David and twin sister Sharon Jongsma.
He spent his early years in Hawthorne, NJ, and graduated Eastern Christian High School in 1982. Following marriage, he and Laurie resided in Midland Park, NJ, where he was an EMT with the Midland Park Volunteer Ambulance Corp. He spent his career involved in the sheet metal fabricating industry including positions with Radiation Systems Inc. in Wyckoff, NJ, Wecom Inc. in Glassboro, NJ, Atlantic Machinery in Kingston, and for 18 years with Amada America, headquartered in Chicago, as General Manager.
Steven had many interests including golf, woodworking, cooking, fishing, and involvement with his church. His passion was his wife Laurie and children Steven and Danielle. He was loved and adored by his family and friends and respected by everyone who knew him.
A Memorial Service honoring his life was held on April 9 at the Raymond Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Raymond Baptist Church, PO Box 106, Raymond, N.H. 03077 or the Children’s Hospital Boston, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA, 02115.
