North Reading, MA — Viesturs P. (Vic) Gaigals, 70, of North Reading, MA, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, January 15, 2014.
Born in Riga, Latvia on October 22, 1943. He was the son of the late Laimons and Erna (Petersons) Gaigals. Vic was a U.S. Navy Veteran, who earned commendation medals for the Vietnam War and a conflict in the Dominican Republic, he served from 1963 to 1966. He had been a resident of North Reading for the past 44 years and was a member of the West Congregational Church in Peabody.
Vic worked for 35 years for United Parcel Service in Chelmsford. Vic served on the town’s Finance Committee and was a member of the Local No. 25 Teamsters Union. He loved motorcycling, he was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and ROMEO’s. Vic loved his family and his granddaughters were his pride and joy. He especially enjoyed boating and his retirement.
Family members include his loving wife of 46 years, Cecile (Cloutier) Gaigals; his son, Christopher J. Gaigals and his wife, Lisa, of Methuen, MA and his daughter, Patricia G. Bolduc and her husband, David, of Bellingham, MA; his brothers, Janis Gaigals and Martin Gaigals of Latvia and his sister, Vija Owen of Wolfboro, NH. Also survived by four cherished granddaughters, Samantha, Natalie, Jacquelyn and Caroline.
