Kingston, NH - Virginia H. (Gamble) Charles was born in Newburyport, Mass. on May 20, 1926, to Willard H. Gamble and Elmira R. (Dow) Gamble. She died on April 24, 2019, at the High Pointe House in Haverhill, Mass.
She was predeceased by her husband Willard C. Charles after 59 years of marriage and their son James C. Charles.
After graduating from Amesbury High School she was a secretary for the war department and married soon after WWII ended. She returned to school and became a cosmetologist. Even with her job, she continued cultivating her passion for volunteerism. She ran numerous fundraising events for the First Congregational Church in Amesbury and the Newburyport YMCA. These organizations allowed her to pursue her love and expertise in the areas of sewing, knitting, needlework and crocheting. She continued with these hobbies until her death.
She also enjoyed the company of all her Massachusetts, Florida and New Hampshire friends. She was known for her artistic abilities, enjoyable /fun-loving personality, quick wit and cooking ability. She always enjoyed trying new recipes and sharing hers with others.
"Ginny" leaves behind her daughter Heidi C. Blais and her husband Paul O. Blais, her grandchildren Holly K. Blais and Jared P. Blais and a great-granddaughter Isobel H. Ball.
Services and burial will be private.
