Wanda's Story

Text size

TAMPA, Fla. — Wanda Cady Kelley, 51, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at LifePath Hospice Center with her loving husband at her side, following an inspirational battle with cancer.

Wanda was born Aug. 9, 1959, in Littleton, N.H., and was the youngest daughter of the late Robert Cady and Eunice (Harrigan) Cady. She graduated from Littleton High School in 1977 and received a B.S. in Elementary Education at the University of New Hampshire-College of Lifelong Learning in 1995. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Mark Kelley of Tampa, Fla., and her three children, Amber, Mark, Breck, and his wife Shelby.

Wanda was gifted in her ability to connect with others, especially children, and she used that gift throughout her life as an educator. She worked passionately with children, including those with disabilities, and found great reward in the bonds she shared with them. Her kind heart and brilliant smile made her a favorite among students at the many schools she worked at throughout her career in New Hampshire and Florida.

Wanda was also a loving wife, a perfect mother, and a loyal friend. Through wisdom, faith, and love she embodied the truest symbol of family. She lived selflessly, always finding ways to inspire her family and friends. Her warmth, her love, and her laughter will continue to inspire, now that those traits have been passed on to the ones she loved.

Wanda didn't just love life, she was life. She was the foundation of an entire family and even her community. She logged countless hours sitting in bleachers and driving to games supporting her children at athletic and community events. When she traveled to exotic places for vacation with friends, she would bring crayons, coloring books, and candy to share with disadvantaged children. Wanda loved basketball, playing cards and board games, musicals, and singing.
