Warren's Story

Kingston, N.H. — Warren “Smitty” Dennis Smith, 79, died September 21, .2012 at the Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont, N.H after a period of declining health.

He was born May 15, 1933 in Brookline, MA., son of the late John and Frances (Milligan) Smith. Smitty was a longtime resident of Kingston, N.H. He served in the United States Navy from 1953-1955 in the Korean War and was stationed on the U.S.S. Croaker.

Smitty had been a 27 plus year employee at Western Electric, retiring as a Quality Control Section Chief. After retiring, his other employments were as a Bailiff for the Plaistow, Derry, Salem, and Pittsfield, N.H. courts, part-time police officer for the Town of Kingston, and Boat Inspector for the State of N.H. Warren was also a notary and Justice of the Peace.

He was a member of the Pioneers (an organization affiliated with AT&T), member of the VFW Post# 1088 in Kingston, a member of the Carl Davis American Legion Post# 34 in Plaistow, and a charter member of the Kingston Veterans Club.

Smitty loved all the members of his family dearly, and had much affection for those who cared for him at Colonial Poplin; he was also an avid animal lover.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley (Nason) Smith who died October 18, 1970; his second wife, Janet (Gervais) Smith who died September 29, 2007; and his son, Michael Smith who died June 6, 2005.

He is survived by his children, Audrey and her husband, David Hanson of Kingston, Sheryl and her husband, Brian Cormier of Danville, Glenda and her husband, Bill Angelone Jr. of Kingston, Kathleen and her husband, Mark Rowley of Dauphin Island, AL, and Leanne and her husband, Charles Miller of Danville, 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: There are no calling hours. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Kingston, N.H.
